Description Horton’s S90 is a direct-acting, single solenoid valve that provides high flow at low head pressure. It is available in several different voltages. This type of “dump valve” is very common as a control for water flowing from a non pressurized tank. Many valve applications are used to open a drain line to discharge water under Gravity force conditions. In this type of application, the system designer balances the drain line size and flow rate with the flow capability of the valve. The pressure against the diaphragm is essentially that of the water head of the container.

Another common use of the Direct Acting Valve is in machines designed for dispensing liquids, i.e., coffee or hot water, etc. A high flow rate [squirting water] is not appropriate because of splashing hot liquid in the wrong direction or in and out of the container. A gravity feed system is found to be quite satisfactory in flow rate and customer dryness. The polypropylene body is designed to withstand a variety of adverse water conditions, in addition to fluid temperatures up to 140 degrees.

Applications The S90 type valve is extremely flexible in its applicability. In addition to plumbing and heating equipment, this valve model is used in domestic dishwashers and icemakers, as well as commercial vending, dispensing and ice machines.
